Kalshi Expands Institutional Reach and Pushes Into Perpetuals

Event contract trading is taking a massive step into traditional finance this week. Investment bank Cantor is opening Kalshi's prediction markets to its roughly 3,000 institutional clients, enabling the execution of large block trades in event contracts.

Simultaneously, the prediction market operator is moving beyond its traditional event betting roots. Kalshi is currently seeking CFTC approval for a copper perpetual futures contract as it pushes further into traditional derivatives markets.

Trump Administration Eyes Onshoring Hyperliquid

During a White House meeting on Wednesday with tech-forward CEOs, President Donald Trump revealed that CFTC Chair Mike Selig is actively working to bring the geoblocked perpetual futures venue Hyperliquid into the U.S. "in a fully compliant and legal fashion." Trump also used the event to push Congress to move forward on the Clarity Act.

The regulatory announcement sent the platform's native token, HYPE, jumping 11%, while shares of traditional exchange competitors CME and Cboe fell on the news.

Bitcoin Surge Flips Myriad Prediction Markets

In the broader crypto derivatives space, Bitcoin's sharp rally past $71,000 triggered record liquidations. Traders betting against crypto lost $2.74 billion in a single day, a figure that surpasses the short side of the October 2025 crash to become the biggest liquidation event in the market's history.

The sudden price action caught traders off guard, causing Myriad's "pump-or-dump" prediction market to swing dramatically from 70-30 odds to nearly a coin flip in just one day. For traders tracking these rapid probability shifts across platforms, utilizing advanced prediction market tools is essential for navigating volatile event contracts.
